These wad guide fingers hold the mouth of the shotgun hull open while the wad is inserted. The wad is slid down the inside of the guide so that it doesn't catch on the edges of the hull, resulting in a crushed wad or hull. Seasoned reloaders know that broken wad guide fingers shut down a reloading session. Be prepared for any breakage by keeping a spare or two on the reloading bench.
